Part I, Physics and Chemistry of Glass, provides an introduction to the classical phenomenological thermodynamics of key material systems in the field of glass technology. Following an introduction to terms and methods, the focus shifts to quantitative calculations relevant to typical glass applications. The book is designed to motivate interested readers to acquire and utilise the methods of phenomenological thermodynamics for their own research and development or daily professional practice. For this reason, the basic concepts and terms are introduced from the ground up.
