The book is organised in three parts: Part I – Physics and Chemistry of Glass; and Parts IIa and IIb – Glass Technology.

The fundamental concepts in Parts IIa and IIb are presented so as to create a direct path towards their application in glass technology. To this end, several chapters are included that are rarely found in typical glass literature. Examples include the topics of particulate matter (Chapter 6), the concept of dimensional groups and numbers (Chapter 7), and furnace performance (Chapter 8).
